What your Training will Look Like

Module 1: The essential foundations

Vertical progression is an essential component of your journey as an autonomous canyoneer. The canyon training program provides a comprehensive understanding of the critical elements of preparing for a canyoning trip. You will learn how to adjust individual equipment to fit your specific needs, tie and secure knots, and master the skills of descending, stopping and climbing back up the rope. This module will allow you to practice your newly acquired skills and develop confidence in your abilities, all under the guidance of experienced instructors.
By the end of this module, you will have the knowledge and skills which will provide a solid foundation for the next stage of your canyoning journey.

Module 2: whitewater essentials

Whitewater in canyons is an exciting and challenging aspect of canyoning. As an autonomous canyoneer, it is essential to understand the movement of whitewater canyon navigation. This includes understanding the principles of water flow, speed, and turbulence and being aware of potential hazards such as flash floods. Additionally, it is necessary to learn how to use safety equipment properly. By taking the appropriate safety precautions and understanding the basics of whitewater in canyons (V3 A3 II), autonomous canyoneers can enjoy the thrill and challenge of navigating through moving water.

Module 3: Horizontal progression and escape

Safe horizontal movement is essential in the canyons, including jumping and tobogganing. You will have ample time for hands-on practice in a controlled and supervised environment. Additionally, this module links the techniques for rigging vertical drops, such as ropes and anchors, with module one’s knowledge of vertical progression. The module also includes learning about canyon escape, where you will learn how to identify potential escape routes and understand the proper techniques for safely exiting the canyon in an emergency.
These skills and techniques are crucial elements to becoming a confident, autonomous canyoneer.

Module 4: Perfecting performance and clinic

You will demonstrate your new skills and knowledge by progressing independently during a canyon descent. Now is your opportunity to put into practise what you have learned and gain confidence in your abilities. You will optimise your performance and become a skilled and independent canyoneer. By the end of the module, you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to tackle any canyon (V3 A3 II) and manage any situation that may arise, whether it be a technical canyon or a remote location. This module will help you become a well-rounded autonomous canyoneer and improve your overall canyoning experience.

Canyoning is a journey, and your training will mirror this.

It is a journey of discovery and adventure. Throughout the process, you will discover new canyons, push your limits and overcome your doubts. It's not just about the physical aspects; it's also about self-improvement, building new connections and forming a community of like-minded individuals. Our international canyoning training  (ICA) program will provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to become a safe and confident autonomous canyoneer.
Your training will prepare you for the physical demands of canyoning and the mental and emotional challenges that come with it. It will empower you to take on canyons while also helping you to discover your true potential and live a fulfilling life.
