Exploring canyoning in Ingleton Waterfalls

What Is Canyoning?

Canyoning is a mountaineering activity, which involves descending a watercourse. It is an activity that is becoming a very popular adventure sport in the UK. Canyons have a vast array of features, for example, vertical waterfalls, water flumes, steep-sided, enclosed/open sided, slots, slides and deep/shallow pools. Depending on the rainfall or natural watercourse they can be slow or fast flowing. Do not confuse it with gorge walking or ghyll scrambling. More information can be found here.

Canyoning involves numerous skills and requires the use of specific equipment, both of which you will use to make your experience safe and enjoyable. You will pass over or under natural obstacles, utilising a number of methods: abseiling/rappelling, down climbing, sliding, jumping, swimming and walking.

Canyoning in The Lake District is a fun and fabulous adventure, which will create a memorable experience in a very unique environment.
